Giving our DL1700 a “heart lung” transplant of new main web and under drive rollers, and ex GZ web tensioning roller. Serious problems getting good web drive.

They don't have enough wrap on the drives. If you move the under drive forward a little and up you get much better contact. It takes a little work but solves the problem especially with bigger webs

I can never understand why they altered the drive arrangement. On the continentals the rollers were tight together and the web was gripped as it wrapped around them. Serious step backwards in the dl with the rollers further apart.

Is it possible to just put a row of boxes along the middle to reduce weight? See people getting stuck but all fully loaded.
We used to do that quite often but were lifting at home so short haul.

Lose all street cred (or field cred) as a tattie carter if you don't have 10 full boxes to drag through wet holes....
Did see a 12 box trailer going along the road with two empty boxes on the front and ten full on the road last week.

had a better day today but could only lift one way, had to put windrower on bigger tyres to keep it up and put the big tractor on the trailers in the field

Spent today fitting wet weather kit to the harvester 45/50/45 webs 70mm dalmans 20mm multisep. 25% lifted and out of dry ground. Hoping the forecasters are correct about better weather from the 21st onwards. On the positive side there is a wet weather market, volumes are good and prices are holding.

Dear Cloon
I have a 55mm main web, it makes a big difference on sticking ground.
Currently running 40 50 45
I think I will put 55 on Monday as another big dump of rain.
Still on 10 mm on multsep but have 20 mm ready to go.

55 is a special build you can’t get from Grimme as far as I know.

Do you have any issues with the 55 slipping? We have 22mm forecast for tomorrow. It will probably scupper any chances of lifting this week.

No it drives fine.

I did have the digger web slipping yesterday, put a new spring on tensioner & cured it.

The 45 3 rd web is a problem as you get regular buildup on V over the axil. So I don’t use shaker on 3 rd web.

On 2nd web get speed up to break up ridge & present a thin layer to cleaner.
Yesterday I was on 75%
Sometimes I use 80% +

It’s the only harvest I have never got, is what I keep telling myself.

I guess you know with 20mm In cleaner you need to up the Rev pressure ?

Yes,my first thoughts. But I’ve got it going in the same direction as the webs (harvester has the function to go either way) and it’s tucked under.

I’m sure it was the dalhmans.
Maybe, if the dalhmans are taking the tops out then it could be pinching them if you have stolon retention, it’s ten years since I grew spuds and certain varieties, Markies, were terrible for it.
