But on a positive point you look to be moving and lifting and the field looks reasonably level without trailer ruts! A good decision to get a self propelled bunker harvester.

Have given up now. The harvester will go, but it’s the constant light rain that’s not helping. We need it drying on top, not getting wetter.

Fork sake!! We get lifting a new field this morning. Grader snaps a drive shaft for no apparent reason. Drag old spare grader out and keep going. Web on harvester pops some bars off. Now it's pishing down.
Oh deep joy. Another 4ac up I suppose.

My digger web keeps slowing down. Don’t really know why.
Fitting new under drive shaft, scrapers, cam clutch, tension springs. Never had it in 8 yrs.
Then 55mm web in tomorrow.
A lot more rain today.

It’s turning into a disaster.

Still early yet though. Hardly ever anything dug in october here

Rather different here in East Midlands/East Anglia. Majority of maincrop would be harvested by end October, certainly November 5th due to concerns of lower soil temperatures affecting bruising on packing crops and fry quality on processing crops. So, as it is mid October and conditions are getting poor it is not early here. Cheers.

But there is no point fighting with the weather. Better to park up til its workable, anytime I pushed on in the wet there was more damage and more breakdowns and more rots
With respect, and not trying to be antagonistic, where do most of the best quality chipping potatoes come from to serve the Irish market?
