Chain tuberisation is the latest problem. Markies.
Put Fazor on Sunday, but don't know if it will do any good for sure.
Crop has greened up really well since the rain, but tubers are very small yet.

We dug again yesterday.
Siggitta - growing some knobs on the tubers.

Agria - Chain Tuberisation. Every tuber.

Markie - Look ok so far.

Last weeks dig all was ok apart from size.

Going to look again at samples but intend to Fazor them all today.

I think it's my last year with Agria.

........and I thought Markies was going to be the crop that helped me meet my commitments with customers.

There are Chains & 2nd growth in Markies as well. But being later less so than Agria.

Agria are a mess 5.5 small tubers per root skins half set. Yield about 4x the seed planted. A lot of 2nd growth.

Markie 9.5 tubers small 2nd growth starting.

Yields 10tpa down to about 4tpa. With 3 to 6 weeks to burn down.

Visited first field of estima with no major problems apart from bit of scab and needing to bulk up more. Came away reasonably happy. Next field looked a picture of health. First dig found 50% dollies. Repeated across the field. Last week i couldn't find any problems at all. They are still green and lovely skins. If they were somewhere near big enough I would chop them straight off but they need at least 2 more weeks. I just hope that the remaining 50% don't succumb to any problems in the meantime.
Wishing I'd put fazor on last week now. Would it have helped? Who knows?
Marfona are sufI fering from chain tuberisation but i think I can live with that
Next 2 weeks are going to be make or break for me.

Really depressed today after looking at the spuds. Been moaning and groaning all afternoon.
Then I came home and read about a 27 year old mother with terminal cancer who has written a series of letters for her young daughter to read at various stages of her life in the absence of her mother. Talk about putting things into perspective.
Gave my 2 boys an extra hug tonight.

Yes indeed.
I've been frequently saying this year "nobody will die over it" referring to the drought and the stresses of farming in general.
God bless the poor lady and her daughter.

We have a family member in a bad way in Hospital ATM, so see a number of sad cases in there most days.
What does it matter if chippies have to pay for spuds one year in a working life time ?
