Potato planting 2018

I'm thinking that anything that hasn't had fazor and is suffering from chaining will probably probably keep on putting shoots out even after the haulm has been destroyed. The spud obviously thinks it's spring. These shoots will inevitably come up through the ridge and start growing new leaf. That will be fun !!

Yes, then blight may become a problem :(

What % of yours are effected?

The potatoes grown here have little or no tops now. They held on pretty well, considering just how dry it’s been and no irrigation . These are for crisps .

Noticing a few crops seem to be coming on flower again around here, would that be secondary growth?

Here’s some Agria of ours, note in the near corner of the headland the potatoes that haven’t been irrigated properly have greened up more.View attachment 710470The potatoes are like this there -

In the back ground the potatoes are going off, they are like this underneath-

I have been thinking about this post in light of what I have seen this week.

Could that corner have been a sprayer miss or charging of boom on Fazor spray.

You will know if it’s where you 1st started, or if other irrigator misses are the same.

It looks to me like the corner didn’t get enough Fazor on 7th Aug.

No water John, exactly the same in the furthest corner headland.

I did start the fazor there, but the other headland corner is the same.

Just pulling out irrigator in the last pull for Agria. Will spray Agria and Performer off next wk half rate.
One more round of irrigation in Caberet and probably another two in piper to go.

It's just that I looked at a field Agria sprayed about the same date, that look like yours, with the spray Miss by a pole that looks just like your corner.

These were heavy ground unirrigated crop.
