Some for spring 2019 digging ?

But realistically how long are these late crops going to have to be kept green and growing to get something decent at the root ?

And then dig them out of wet soil conditions :(

Decent drop of rain here lately.
Markies have no size but a good green canopy.
Ramos a mixed bag with a dry field with no size and very little green tops, better land with more size and more green top.
Fontane some green canopy left and needing to grow more.

That's the strange thing about potatoes. There is generally no correlation between canopy volume and tuber size.

Seen massive canopies will only marbles underneath, and very little above ground and yet harvest a very good crop.

Crops have been very slow to bulk. Some crops don't appear to have moved over the last 2 weeks. Friend with solar panels said there was basically no sun here in August. Skin sets appear to be very good this year. You would think some of the green top samples were desiccated 3 weeks. We will start maincrop desiccation this week I would rather have them lifted by Halloween than gamble on Nov weather. I also feel seed may be very scarce and worth more than ware

Agree with not wanting to harvest later than Oct end.

I started burn down this wk on the newer varieties. Piper look like they haven’t bulked at all yet.

Nobody else has burnt anything off around us yet. The big potato grower up the road is still irrigating flat out. I’ve finished now.

Mine need longer to bulk. But the longer I leave them the greater the risk of problems. From what I hear there are a lot of decent numbers set but no size yet.tops are still green so there should be bulking potential but most round here like to be lifting in mid Sept not mid Oct. The days are getting shorter and mine don't seem to be bulking that quickly. All the energy seems to be too going into producing dollies! Think I'm going to cut my losses and burn off.
