I dont know how much Graham is getting, I do know that that wind on Friday knight stripped all the foliage off the ones in Whitesands so yield is pretty restricted.
And the wind took the plastic off 10-14 days before as I saw that happen

Saw this on Facebook today!

I paid for 25kg bags of Bostons
£11 on Monday
£18 on Tuesday
Wednesday no Bostons
Thursday no caulie, cabbage or broccoli either.
Friday no transport from Boston

This will be hurting someone.

As JR once said. Old potatoes are on their ass £7.50 per bag. Similar would have been £11 in January.

On Friday the lorry washed out to sea. :(

Should have taken a photo earlier today for you. Cauli cutting rigs have a second tractor on front pulling them up the field, and another third on headlands for pulling out of field. I only saw two fields being cut today - some of the lightest silt in the county and on a slight rise. The area is flooded.

Is it as bad as 2012 John?

I looked up the weather records for 2007 & 2012
7 was double the norm in April, June, July, Aug was quite wet as well.
12 it wasn’t as wet but lasted for longer.
That’s Cambs Lincs.

19 very dry then 5” in a week.

Spoke to a farmer today that’s been trying to dig water off, the drills are half full or worse in low spots.

Hope lots of crops are on raised beds. It sounds like crops could be affected for months especially when this is a busy time for transplanting crops like broccoli & caulie.

The other thing is blight on potatoes, its never easy with earlies. We rely on Bostons until late July, we are worried what the samples are going to be like.

We lost some potatoes in low spots in 2007, just nothing in the dips at harvest time.
