Potato price 2019

Well if no one will I’ll start if off.

Hearing a wide range of prices.

I’ve started at £240 markies. Looking for £250 next week.

I think the only down side at the moment is some might be getting rid quick before they go themselves.

Well reluctantly took my first order, £180 performer to start next week. He wanted to pay £170.

Seems like more people are getting finished (according to harvester drivers UK on Facebook). Even in very wet ground, from what I’ve seen the spuds look alright in the videos that have been posted.

Well that’s a start. We all must keep asking for more otherwise the big money which is to come will pass us by. [emoji6]

I think Agria and markies are the money makers atm, I’ve been quoted similar price for Agria as to what your getting. This time last year they were £400!

Still a couple of big growers harvesting near us. The fry must be deteriorating?

I would imagine anything dug after bonfire night will be very difficult to use serving chip shop customers, because of nicks and knocks and dark fry. Certainly our earlier dug material is the best quality.

You already are on big money!
I don’t think anything in the midlands is making £200.

I was told £200 ex for Piper by a Shropshire grower in Harrogate this week, another one bid £160 bulk again Piper. A colleague mentioned £220 ex for good Sagitta more towards east Shropshire. On the flip side I spoke to a Cheshire grower who was still accepting £90 in bags for his PIper, little bit of IRS in it but not too bad was the comment (I told him they were worth a bit more than that!).

There will clearly be a wide range of prices in line with the quality offered as usual. I guess growers and merchants need to apply a realistic view of what quality is being traded...........

Sadly Grimme have been to our ranch this week.
He said there’s a Nr of growers with 200 ac still left.

There’s been a lot dug since bonfire night. Fry’s will be an issue.

I feel early dug good frying gear will fetch money come spring.

My contact said Irish fryers are not working this season.

How much have you got left John? Local big grower now has 7 SP’s on the go.

We have it down to 12ac now, with extraordinary effort from our staff & Grimme UK.
Getting Trailers off is difficult now. The season is by far the hardest we have ever experienced to date.

Another 7mm at yard last night but less on said field.

Couldn’t shift markies here last time I grew them. Chip shop men said they were too dry and wouldn’t keep in the “hot box” after they had been fried.
Struggled to pick the dam things with the tops so I’m definitely not keen!!

With potatoes still in the ground and what we have lifted running out fast , we are looking for some marfona to buy.
Have got a few coming from Scotland but the transport is understandably quite high.
Don't want to loose our customers and I'm not sure they would find any locally anyway, were ever hopeful that we can eventually get back to lifting if and when it stops raining !!
We can take them in boxes or jumbo bags or even supply our own 25kg bags. We are located on the Derby/Notts border and have transport available.

P.M. Me if you think you can help . Thanks in advance.
