There must be some money in it as the cereal farmers cant buy kit/land up the way the big potato growers do, even in a bad year although some farmers will sell some at a low price they normally average out better than you think prob closer to 80-100Do you not value your time?
1) to average a sold and paid for yield of 20t/ac is very impressive.
2) old, cheap kit breaks down alot and not cheap to repair.
3) where are you going to sell them? If you can find a contract, price will usually be fixed at about cost of production. If on free market, what is your plan for when market is oversupplied and worth £ 35/t?
4) the 500ac guys you say are going to make a killing this year took an absolute beating a couple of years ago, dumping thousands of tonnes.
5) to quote from a previous post, you talk utter crap!

You should try it. Not many potato farmers have 1000 acres to start off witg, you could sell a field every year to keep going and you would never miss itThere must be some money in it as the cereal farmers cant buy kit/land up the way the big potato growers do, even in a bad year although some farmers will sell some at a low price they normally average out better than you think prob closer to 80-100
Do you know anyone who has 12 cwt boxes for sale? I can only find ton boxes and they're a bit big for me. Anyone who makes new boxes is too busy making ton boxes to make anything smallerIL sell you a ridger and grader as well and a few hundred boxes which should have been burned for firewood long ago but we're made do until things look better
They are sold out of 12 cwt boxes and won't be making any more until they finish making ton boxes. They had orders for 4000 ton boxes when I spoke to them.bradley potato boxes has a ad on donedeal 07938993416

I'm near Ballyclare. Where are these boxes? Could you find out if they are still for sale please?Where are you, I know a man who had really good 12 cwt ones for sale if he still has them.
What size are your acres I'd love to see 20 tons saleable British queens to the acre but can't ever do itgoing into tatties is still a possibility in the future, the reason I say 2000 is if they get 20t an acre after grading most people reckon it costs 120 an acre to grow them, if they sell for 220/t that's £100 profit x 20t
Has the bag price gone up this week. I.e. Markies piper and agria.
