Is there something ace about these rooster spuds or just good marketing? Mrs teslacoils brought some back from the shop in a fancy bag and the chips were middling to poor, and the mash no better than any generic reds.
Jack of all trades master of none.. in the late 2000’s I went on a study tour around the laboratory that developed the “Rooster” variety, they were explaining how they went from 40,000 numbered varieties over 20 years finally landed at Rooster. Then they said any questions, I piped up with “After 20 years that’s a pretty poor effort” ironically the plant breeders said they didn’t suit any process perfect but just about did them all to a standard 🤦‍♂️

It looks like retail fresh sales/bag sales could be in for a boost with this lockdown, but whilst you expect chippies/restaurants to be much more prepared this time compared to March you still feel that there could be a further downturn. Hopefully not. Fingers crossed we do see the resurgence in gate sales......my best pal is in the veg box business - first lockdown he was spending £10k a week at the wholesale market compared with his usual £2.5-3k. This has settled down to about £7k a week with decent customer retention, the weeks ahead though he's projecting £14-15k a week spent at the market . Hopefully we see plenty of similar stories for local delivery services and farm shops that hold on to a customer base in long term once this is all over.

My reading of situation is Lockdown effectively closes eat in restaurant trade. Any thoughts on impact on this sector usage - thinking probably of frozen product such as chips/wedges etc from major processors? What about McDonalds eat in - stay open or does it close?
