Have a look at the Cropping section of the forum - https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/potato-crop-2021.347155/I'm interested in potatoes from planting to storage and how to improve both aspects
Not a bad year 8000 tone sent off this year with only 0.1% returned and 2 emails congratulating us on high standards for quality of boxes and quality of potatoes
Could do with more potato chat in general on the forum.
You do understand why there isn't, don't you ?
There's a bit of spud talk in the cropping section but my guess would be spuds are generally grown by larger farms, employing staff. Regular TFF posters don't seem to be in that category, especially in Agricultural Matters.
Said from the safety of the other side of the world .
But why are they 'generally grown by larger farms' ?
(We both know why, but lets play the game)
Please don’t say Direct Drilling!Said from the safety of the other side of the world .

I think we have quite a broad spectrum of discussion from across the industry, it’s interesting that when we’ve done the most ‘popular user comps’ many of the top posters aren’t the usual suspects, if memory serves me correctly the last one had the top 10 or so were from the livestock section. There’s room for greater discussion across the board, I’ve always had an interest in Veg corps and kit, just don’t tell the boss! There is little potato chat on here, for the same reason that there is little apple chat, or pig chat, or poultry chat.
It is the same reason why in 10 years time there will be little dairy chat, or arable chat.
And the same reason why in 20 years time there will be little suckler or sheep (the last refuge of farmers) chat.

There's plenty of farmers in all sectors but for some reason, they don't show up in TFF Agricultural Matters. Perhaps the membership is made up of all types of farms, big and small but I don't think the posters are a particularly accurate reflection of UK Ag.There is little potato chat on here, for the same reason that there is little apple chat, or pig chat, or poultry chat.
