It's total rubbish is it? Just my opinion and it was ok in heavy crops but not light ones.

Speak as you find but after using one, I made sure that the rake I bought was adjustable width, like most are.

you've gone from a blanket opinion of "it makes a too narrow row" to "it's ok but not in light crops". A 702 is only working with at most 95cm more crop, about 15% more grass in the row (assuming spread), in such a light crop you are saying that's a dramatic change?

A lot more depends on the baler (and user) to make good bales in light crops.

I know between 11k 612 or 17k 702 which i'd choose, and spend the change on a 6m tedder to go with it 😅

When a dealer tells you the 612 gave trouble then I know which one I bought.
17k seems high, I paid 15k this time last year. Wide road tyres and the wheel out front. No crop divider.

Krone 640 here

Makes an awful nice row in anything

Haven't needed any parts, but it's only worked just over two thousand acres. Several farms here now get me to rake for them. They say it makes a far better round bale.

Width and height manually adjustable. Rotor speed and forward speed needs tweaked to get the best shaped row, but my 12 year old laddie manages it fine.

There isn't a factory fit option for a valve to lift a single rotor wheel, but I added an electrohydraulic change over valve for £250. Same thing can be done by adding a second hydraulic hose if you've 2 spools on the tractor. Very few fields here are square, and lifting a single rotor makes the end of the rows much neater.

Bought mine as an ex demonstrator which made it a good price. Didn't try a pottinger, so can't comment on its ability. Dealer wasn't interested in quoting after he heard I'd demonstrated the Krone.

Was 16k last year with my local dealer for a 702 up £1000 this year

The cost of this gear is near irrelevant to the value of the silage you will be producing. Two years of bad silage will cost many people a lot of money from having to buy in more feedstuffs, poorer animal performance, lack of thrive etc. Nearly every livestock farmer in the country should have a tedder or at least access to a tedder and rake big enough to cover his area quickly.
