Pottinger novadisc mowers

Looking at buying a used 3m pottinger novadisc mower. It’ll be mainly for pre-mowing in front of the dairy cows and the odd field for silage, would only really cut 5 acres in 1 go, but still need it reliable. Blades need to be easy to change. Would it be to heavy for a JD2650 4WD? Some of our ground is pretty steep, but we’d never be in a hurry.
TIA
Did you go for it? 2650 2wd here and contemplating one for topping with, McConnell topper9 is to slow, used to run a Krone AM243CV on it years ago which was 740kg, I still have it but the ram is rusted bad so unsure how much it would need spending on it to get it running again. The Pottinger Novadisc 305 is 650kg but the weight is further out?

Looking at a krone 280 easycut today, as the pottingers are quite rare, will report back if I buy it.

Friend of mine run a 8ft kvernland disc mower on his 1640 John Deere with no problems so I’d imagine if it’s plain discs it shouldn’t be a problem

Would people consider new of the cheaper makes or would you go main brands but second hand for topping etc?

Main brand, parts easy and 3rd hand value More.

Cheap brands ok for the real small man but you get someone putting decent average through them and they're not that cracky, I am talking of drum mowers but can imagine disc be similar.

I watched someone down trade many times, it's only £300 to swap at 3 year old but it was a hell of a leap when he went to a main brand, admitted 9ft disc mower 2nd hand

Unless ram is leaking I’d be tempted to clean it up with wet and dry with some oil on it, in a rotating motion not back and forth along the rod and carry on. You could even drop the conditioner rotor off quite easy

Wow! Where has it been since, looks like its been taken from the sea!
Not that far from the sea 😭 it was slightly stiff but still turning, hydraulic pipe and ram had rusted away and I needed space for straw so it wasn’t working when it went out
