Yes it will be easier to turn and you will be able to achieve a faster forward. As you say the soil type/ conditions do play a role aswell.

What 4m combi are you running on 165hp? Lifting it must be an issue
When the original 4m accord combi’s came out 165hp would have been a big tractor. We used to easily pull/lift an Amazone/Amazone 4m with a 6930 with just the normal 900kg weight. I remember even longer ago we used to lift/pull a 3m maschio/sulky combi with a zetor 7745 which were 75-80 ish hp!

Thanks for replies, running a power harrow at a slower pto speed takes less power therefore the tractor can pull it faster do we think?
This is the question I'm asking.
I know soil type, ground conditions, depth and clod board can influence forward speed.
Wheel eradicator tines a must in my opinion especially on ploughed/soft ground!

It says 210 on the bonnet but that’s max boost at the flywheel not what gets to the wheels

end of the day it’s a 165hp mid size Swb frame new Holland that does bloody well all things considered especially on our hills.
All horsepower figures are at the flywheel so what does that matter?
It's not really 165 though since that is only at rated speed, without boost the 210 is actually 180.

As said I work on the lowest figure wen choosing a tractor then I’m not disappointed

I drop pto speed to 800 as that’s where fuel economy seems to be best, makes no odds to job power Harrow does but definitely wears tines less for me

Is that pull the throttle back when you’re stationary to 800 then go to work, or drive her flat out and dragged back to 800?

I've run a powerharrow for 30 years and combi's for most of that time. They have generally been run on a 1000 pto and in the right conditions eco pto and set auto pto on/off for headlands.
I have never really run them lower than a 1000 rpm though.

10 acres an hour

So,
4ha/ hour
40,000 sq.m/hr
3m powerharrow so 13,333 linear meters per hr
/1000= a constant speed of 13.3kph with no turning whatsoever. Let’s be generous and say you were 75% efficient with headland turns taken into account means you must kick on at a pretty constant 18kph powerharrowing.

You must have very fair ground or a very large tractor!
