Putting in a supply for a new parlour.
I have rating for robot, compressor and cooler. Is there any other major supply needed for the whole set up?
It the auger for meal bin a big load?
Just trying to calculate what size of mains cable the whole set up will require.

Single phase. Yes bulk tank i had that rating in with the cooler.
What is your incoming supply in amps ? 60/80/100.
We run 3 lely a4s and all associated kit on a 200amp single phase supply, whether we can squeeze another one on to that is another question. You really need to speak to your electrician and get the ratings from your kit suppliers, you should be fine with a single robot.

For sure put in a bigger supply than you think you will need.

@upnortheast what supply into your robot setup?
On a nice big 3ph supply now.
When we started with the robots we were on a split phase supply - so 2 x 100amp live wires
2 Robots , compressors etc,etc were on a 100 amp supply.
House, Tank room, Bottling plant fridges & tanks , etc, etc were on another 100 amp circuit.
Whole lot had a habit of tripping off about 6 on a winters night

We are 480v split phase which is 2 x 240v single phase. I try and load each phase equally. Split phase motors are getting hard too come by and very expensive.

We looked at split phase but was told it was a bad idea with robots.

Thanks for the replies I'm the one that will be wiring it not starting milking.
I haven't done one before and just want to ensure I don't miss any loads before I start sizing up.

Are you having a new supply installed or running a cable from your own meter? If the latter spend a bit more and run one now that can give max capacity of you incoming supply. It will be money well spen in few years as other things are added on
It's off an existing supply at the minute and that is why I'm trying to cover all loads that could be needed.

No option here, I am the last farm on the North East supply and the 3 phase supply is 9 miles away. Scottish Power has 3 phase power to the next farm north about 2 miles away. Wouldn't like to guess how much they would want to bring it to us!

Could always ask. If you did the trench and they throw the cable in it? Man on a digger wouldn't cost that much to do the trench?
