Bitcoin mining isn't profitable at all, the data servers are blockchain data servers not bitcoin miners - the servers only run off 1KW constant draw so they don't use that much power.

Hmm so is this small scale then? I was getting quite excited for a moment there.

The green energy market is completely stymied at the monent, but so is all energy, just renewed my gas at 1/3rd of old price. We cannot have it both ways.

Yep. We were getting nowhere trying to get someone to give us a quote. We've ended up going back to Good Energy because they actually picked the bloody phone up and gone for FIT Export rate. To do that the provider needs you to be on FIT payments with them too otherwise you can't plump for it, something I didn't know beforehand. Luckily we were already getting our FITs through them, so straightforward in our case.

I've also has two import meters to renew over the last couple of months, it's been a fekking unholy nightmare trying to get anyone to pick up the phone to quote. Why is anything to do with electric quotes such a fekking ballache?

Surely Import meters are not your issue :scratchhead:

We get our fit payments through british gas, have tried calling them to get ppa with them but you get put through to India and no one has a clue what you are talking about when you mention ppa,we have another installation with good energy, will give them a call tomorrow, not sure how big a job it will be to shift our fit payments though.

Eh? We have an import meter on the turbine and the farm meter is for imported electricity. I don't get your question.
I am a bit muddled here
The meter on the Turbine is for FIT and export surely maybe two meters there.
Then the farm will have an import meter. I thought you meant replacement but obviously you mean import contract renewal and Export contract renewal

Surely the meter AT the turbine is the FIT meter and then there is an Import / Export meter on the grid connection ?

Even if 100% is exported then the FIT meter will have the highest reading because the turbine will use a small amount itself when it is generating.

There may or may not be a meter for your own use, but it doesn't really matter unless you are actively selling the power to the farm from the turbine.

Apologies if my post was unclear, I'd assumed it was. We've recently had to renew our leccy contract for the farm, that's the first import meter, we use leccy direct from the grid for the farm. That was the first ballache.

Then we had to renew the import supply to the turbine as the turbine uses some leccy when it's not actually producing eg when it's turning to face a slight wind. Ballache no2.

Finally we've had to renew our PPA as our old one was almost done. Ballache no3. Getting someone/anyone to pick the phone up has been tiring at every stage.

The actual FIT meter inside the turbine doesn't get renewed at all as it's simply a meter and is only relevant to Ofgem.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

Hi All,

I realise this thread is a bit old now, but it cropped up in a google search, and led me to sign up to this page.

I own an energy company based in Cheshire with a large agricultural customer base. We offer solar design and installation, commercial electrical contracting, LED lighting conversions, as well as import and export energy procurement, which is why google thought this thread was relevant to me.

I previously used to manage the Savills (UK) Ltd corporate energy portfolio, with an annual spend of £185,000,000 on electricity and gas alone. Using my contacts within the industry developed during my time there, I now manage a direct portfolio of customers, with a heavy emphasis on green energy and products.

With export negotiations, we simply use my contacts to find the best deal available direct with suppliers in the current market, give you all your options, and if we can make your export more lucrative then fantastic.

If anyone would like us to look in to their export to see what prices are out there and available, please just drop me an email at [email protected].
