PPI claiming

I interested to know how to go about checking on our business, I know a fair bit of borrowing happened here in the late 90s but no idea if there was ppi added. Since then we have changed banks.

How far back have people been claiming?

Was any machinery finance subject to PPI and again how do you go about checking?

Some banks did include a kind of insurance in the overdraft fees I believe, they weren’t listed as such to the customer but internal paperwork did. This isn’t gospel but just what I’ve heard being spoken about.

We successfully claimed back ppi on overdrafts and loans made through Lloyd’s. Just used a sample covernote edited to our situation In with their ppi claim forms, listed account details. Couple of phone calls later and then a cheque in the post. One of the best wet weather jobs we’ve done.

My wife was contacted by a PPI claims company, and thought she had nothing to lose, so let them do their stuff. In the last year she has received 3x successful claims, totalling about £3.5k:D. Unfortunately, the PPI claim company is taking about 30-40% +VAT, so she is ending up with only 40-50%. But still, it's better than nothing, for no work :)

Since her first success, I went to MoneySavingExpert and used their template forms to make claim applications myself. Unfortunately, they have all come back as 'no claim':(

I have been ruffling I the office and found a box ofpaperwork from my younger days. In this box is some credit card slips that include payment protection which I think I should have a go at reclaiming as I can never remember asking for it and don’t believe they would have paid out if push ever came to shove.

So what are the good reasons? Medical - diabetes is a chronic condition so I may have been excluded, full time education (ok some farm money to grease the wheels). Not aware of the charge or terms not explained in full (a pretty weak argument I feel).

Don’t want to line someone else pocket claiming for me but they may be able to make a claim work so perhaps it’s a choice of some or nothing?

If you were self employed at the time they will refund

I've made 2 claims, you don't need any "experts" as long as you've got some details it's very easy
what one person finds easy, another may find daunting/difficult. I was just pointing out that there are most probably cheaper ways of getting someone to claim on your behalf than the firms that make the headlines with their advertising.

The cheapest way is to do it yourself :) (yes I understand what you are saying but) they accept they've done wrong, all you've got to do is hold your hand up and shout, I had all the paperwork for one claim and was expecting about £1500 submitted it all and got a refund of over £4000, they have all the details.
