yes i agree.

Not sure what a prattley system would've cost in 2010 but 3.5 k would now be approx. 4.25 k under normal, inflation rate.

Alli hurdles are very good for sweeping up /funneling in to a race or pen in a temporary situation and yes we could do with more to save moving the ones around that we do have, ours could be a bit taller as well min 40 inch ir.
Just dont need the trailer bit, thats the most expensive as well .
don't want the pita setting up caper either thats why we build permanent but basic pen/race at each place we keep stock, find it saves time a well, especially if we only need to get a few or pick out one or 2 or a handfull.

Grants always seem to spoil their good idea by certain built in qualifying criteria, like the chap on another thread about fencing having to fence with certain amounts of barbed wire :banghead: or no creo alowed
any good Fencing contractor or stockman even will advise on good fencing not a blinking office theory so called expert.😒

Farm machinery has been running at a far higher inflation rate in general but
even taking your figures it shows a substantial increase .
I totally get what you say about the trailer part as it's the hurdles we use
90% of the time .You would think some clever chap would invent a lighter ,stronger
livestock box which could neatly stow away aluminium hurdles, allowing one vehicle
to gather and remove sheep and still be under max permitted weight.

drafting is a different matter but
i love drenching in our george mudge shearing pen tbh prefer it much more than race drenching if they dip down in a square pen its much easier to still dose them /get down after them nothing worse than lambs dipping down or jumping up in a race.even a 3ft one. to steel tubes under for pallet tines and hes portable with hurdles stacked inside if need be.
but then what do i know im just a guy with 'Twiglet ' alli hurdles... :ROFLMAO::cautious:

I love the way British sheep farmers are often so keen on Prattleys yet complain about New Zealand lamb being sold in the UK. (Tin hat firmly on).
Cant blame me. Maybe I'm the only one but I can't stand NZ, they dump their cheap no-welfare lamb and overpriced clothes & gear on us then steal all our labour. So many fellow young folk are obsessed with the place and want to bugger off there for a year or two but the fact this country exists boils my pee.

Perhaps the people selling Prattley could guarantee
supply of the product.Maybe by a certain date to qualify
for a grant scheme doesn't cut the mustard here.

You can't really blame prattley IMO... I couldn't get a guarantee delivery time on a livestock trailer from 2 UK companies this time last year.

Also this time a year ago, Scotgov extended their grant scheme because it was blatant that none of the squeeze crushes would be delivered on time.

I've waited months for parts on other things too. Supply has been a global issue this past 2 years.

Oh aye, before I ordered my mobile yard, Rappa wouldn't tell me when I'd get one (wanted to order in January 2019, they just said they hoped I'd get it sometime before the end of Summer... so I went elsewhere)

Same here no guarantees hence I bought a Prattley .

Sadly when I ordered my Alligator, Cox gave me a delivery date for the Prattley too.... August the following year 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

I think they just wanted to sell me the Alligator - but I'm not fussed, it's been great this far. Ordered in January 2019 told I should have it in April 2019 - it was delivered 1st March 2019 👍 ordered an extension bundle of hurdles and other bits late August 2020 and it was all delivered a fortnight later (and they chucked in 150 free lamb slaughter tags as a thank you for the order) 😎

Got mine through Tanner trading .
To be fair he was well on the ball at the time and
delivery was true to his word .
All these yards are big improvement after using steel hurdles .:)

I bought my prattley years ago now from an advert in a magazine. Second hand but as good as knew. Those aluminium bars will last forever in my opinion.

Cox agri/Allflex are the importers of Prattley as far as I'm aware so just went straight to them, and it's them who make the Alligator. Couldn't be bothered going to 'suppliers'...

I replaced a permanent yard (wood, as old as me and rotten) and needed mobile for an away block of ground I lost use of the pens at. It's been really great, does sit in a shed all summer though - the concrete floor isn't kind on the bottom of the hurdles

If my memory serves me right Tanner trading had pre ordered quite
a few yards in anticipation of high demand .
I had actually spoken to Rappa before hand and they could not give me any guarantee
of a delivery date.
