Pre cast Concrete feed trough/bunker

Shoot me down if you so wish. BUT from my experience in farm operations I'd not go down the route of a huge fixed item. Farming changes more often than one would like and having versatility is more of an asset than folk realise. I'd be looking at feed troughs & the 'on-the-angle' fences, if that is what they're called, as 24' sections. Then if things change so can you and quickly.
I have a friend who HAD a fantastic Beef unit with all the bells & whistles for feeding. He changed direction & in three years everything that was bolted/welded/embeded had to come out.....

2 concrete panels and a steel rope , I'd have thought is pretty cheap and reusable

I used precast trough from moore concrete. 8ft long sections 5ft wide 2ft high. Eating from both sides. We had alot of bother with cows getting pushed in or falling in. So we raised them all up on old railway sleepers and has eliminated the problem. When I looked at them all they all seam to be 2ft tall, where as our old trough was 3 blocks high around 28"and was never a problem with cows falling in.

Wire rope is ok but not as good as a steel tube , in my opinion . I have seen it where it has cut slots in the web of the stanchion.
It's better with blue water pipe over it to make it more visible and kinder on the cattle.

I have tried wire and pipes, my cattle only know how to eat if they put their heads on one side first.

I am never sure whether I will have bulls, cows, calves or anything in between in any of my yards and barriers are better for that.

The disadvantage with a barrier is buying it or making it, spent the afternoon cutting 2 inch pipe with carefully measured angles...
