Going to pre em spray a field of winter barley tomorrow, it was planted last Tuesday and has germinated with small spirts on each grain. Is there a risk I’ll kill the crop or will I be fine.

As long as it was drilled deep enough you should be ok, depends on what chemical you’re using but most pre ems need 30/32 mill of soil above the seed to be safe.

Light sands are more at risk than heavier land (and depends what product and at what rate).

It can all but kill the crop on very light sand if very heavy rain.

I prefer a few dry days forecast to give the chemical time to bind. That said, I think it will help that yours has germinated and started to put its roots down.
