Pre-ems into a lot of trash.

I hope so, I’ve sprayed a pre-em on that sort of cover! Used 200l water.

I don't think it does work, as it can't reach the soil. I tend to leave it and go post em, but don't have the blackgrass pressure.

i have premed after osr( 2017 2018 2019 and 1996)and 18 inches of oat cover (2018) where there is no soil surface visible

with no discernable difference

we also used to apply kerb to strong rape crops with no issues

plenty of people say it will not work but how many of them have acrually done it

the bare ground is where the bg risk is greatest

but the best control from herbicide is where there is more crop competition /cover

Don’t ask me why?!
one problem I have had this year is osr vols not completely being killed after glyphosate with the pre em. Not too worried as will be tidied in spring. Any ideas?

Any sort of OM will lock up the pre-em; it looks fairly black soil already (?) whether you’d dare not put it on is another matter

If it is not growing away it will not survive the winter and is not taking up nutrients
I have used higher rates 2 l /ha since notill ing but in the 1990s had rape eventually die with low dose 1 litre

I would have used round up. I havent had much luck with pre em and felt that when I have used a pre em in the spring with a lot of trash that it didnt work very well and also I thought it stayed on the trash and affected the emerging crop. ( Soya)
