I have never used one but I'm sure there are circumstances when it would be a good idea, such as:
Addressing a known defiency
Helping with transitioning a diet
If they are not being fed any compound.

I don't believe there is any value in worming pre-lambing but it can be a good idea when put out after being lambed indoors.

Whenever I stress about such things, I wonder if I've done anything to stop them from just getting on with things as they would 'in the wild'. They coped for centuries without our interference!

As above, i'm sure they'll be ok . For your peace of mind a vit min drench will not do any harm and cost very little really per ewe.
A wild sheep can wonder were it wants eat what it wants and lick what it wants, we do our best to give what they need when they are confined by a fence. At least what we think they need ...

We didn't bother this year, we did vit/min last year but saw no effect, the biggest difference that we have had on the tegs has been bringing them in and over wintering them inside on adlib hay and ½lb of concentrate rather than overwintering them outside on adlib hay and feed tubs.
