Pre Milking Routine

Hello. Just curious to know everyone’s pre milking routines, tips and tricks.

I’m currently milking in a 50 point rotary. Cows are cubicle housed on sawdust.

We use damp cloths with peracetic acid and water. Cows are also pre and post sprayed by pods. Wiped and stripped after pre spray then units on 30+ seconds later. Majority of cows have very dirty teats so vigorous wiping is needed most times.

Pre spray, wipe , strip, cups on. Post spray deck sprayers. Hypo bucket to dip hands after each couple cows stripped. Very low mastitis but the cows are very clean (sawdust bedded)

I think your asking the Wrong question. It appears you should be asking what is other peoples cubicle management.

I agree, but you'll not change some peoples deep rooted ways
I am constantly looking for the least necessary faff to achieve desired results
Some might have a SCC under 100, 1% mastitis and single digit bactos but won't drop any part of their full on routine incase something slips

Why are the cows so dirty? Also how many seconds per cow to get all that done?

Cows aren't particularly clean, but bacto usually below 20 and SCC is currently 44, often drops very low in winter when mainly fresh /mid lactation cows. Foaming pre-dip, wipe with paper towel.
Have always previously used an iodine based barrier from Kilco as post-dip but they changed ownership and it is definitely not as clingy any more. The new one synofilm recommended to us by merchant is not iodine based , but is clingy. Think we want iodine, despite the price, for its mineral benefits as much as anything, but we will see how we get on.

We used synofilm for about 5 years and really pleased with it.

Dry wipe. No spray or dipping. No sawdust just plenty of scrapping and cubicle lime (not rhino). Cows reasonably clean. No fines, few bonuses and very few cases of mastitis.
