Yes most definitely, the biomass readings will give you a good indication of how much nitrogen has been taken up by the crop. In the instance of last year, the under performing field would have had a lower biomass reading due to less N response from the slurry. This would have given you a good basis for increasing the N applications. SAR should really help fine tune N applications in all situations.

Thanks for the reply it sounds really interesting. I will give you a call in the next few days.

As Clive says, we've just launched our new platform in the UK, daily optical scanning at 3.5m resolution, SAR imagery providing Growth Stage, LAI, GAI, biomass and yield forecasts. Precision weather data including leaf canopy wetness, soil moisture, temperatures and much more :)

Check it out here: http://contour.Rhiza-UK.com/

Are the daily updates all done from satellite imagery or are they from actual imagery one day in five or so and modelled for the rest?

So we have optical satellites scanning daily (processing one image per week), SAR scanning every 3-6 days (frequency dependent on location) and the crop growth models updating daily using the satellite data and precision weather data.
