Preparations for a Corbyn Government.

I think the student loan/debt helps fuel the attitude of the live for today culture, as you said that the loans will probably never be paid off. Why kill your self working if there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

On the other hand........
Just thinking out loud.
Our four went through uni, on the cusp, with various amounts of loan and "self support".
They all worked hard at part time jobs during "term time" and times of breaks and earnt good money to help theirselves along.
Since then...... with more and more monies available on loan, maybe a lot of students are just bumming around and not thinking about the consequences of such an attitude?
I suppose its been good for employment figures to have many more "full time students" with a lot of traditional student work being taken up by regular "non achievers"?
Or perhaps the jobs just aren't available due to immigration?
Nothing's as black and white as it first appears to be.

Possibly something in that. My wife worked pretty much every spare minute in Vic Wine when she was at Teacher Training college. It was a real slog with many late nights but we got through it. I guess this was before student loans but she pretty much supported herself through it.

Anyhoo....my solution to the student loan kerfuffle....
Become an estate agent. Enables you to become a member of the ' professional ' classes , without the need for any qualifications whatsoever. You can earn an absolute fortune from the age of 18, and no need for the palaver of obtaining degrees etc. Also suited to those with an obnoxious personality, but I digress.

Can we now get on with discussing how we will cope with a Labour government, which will most likely be hostile to farming.

I think they should pay but the interest should be very low or zero
I'd agree with that, my sister manages a local bank, but she managed to get a staff mortgage with interest set at base rate by just being employed by them so if they can do it for them then it does not need to be set so high for students.

She never went to collage or university either.

Thats truly disgusting. my girls where both prior to 2011 and I believe capped at 1.25% but I will certainly ask the question just to make sure.
My son was also three years earlier, so didn't have the £9k fees to start with.
I've emailed my MP, and received a reply saying he will look into it.

Social media starting to have abit of a frenzy over Corbyn sacking these front benches who voted against the whip for single market membership amendment, remainers who thought labour would save them from a hard brexit are very upset

I think the military will take over eventually if JC is elected. Probably already being discussed. If he won't take the nuclear deterrent seriously he is undermining the defence of the country and that will not be tolerated.

JC has had his day already I think. He is starting to overplay his hand and be seen for the political opportunist that he is. His economic policies and his chancellor have no credibility whatsoever. A few months with interest rates at 12% ( because nobody would lend to labour below those rates last time there was a left wing labour government), rising unemployment and bankruptcy in the public sector so nothing to pay all those public servants with, and people will want the Tories back again.

I am just old enough to remember Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan and Denis Healey, 3 day weeks, power cuts and the winter of discontent. Labour is always brought down by its own core supporters.

Just give it time.

Maybe all valid but the mood after Grenfell is not with the Conservatives
