Preparing for war

Anyone making preparations in the event of war in Ukraine or are you more concerned with things like G. Maxwell trial and pardoning witches (Scotland) and No. 10 partying and wallpaper or are you just sleepwalking into oblivion????

I predict he will go into Ukraine fairly soon and there won’t be a damn thing we can do about it.
Economics sanctions? What a joke. He’s got all the gas and could freeze Europe, which is why he’ll do it in winter.
In Russia it will be seen like the British armed forces moving into Wales a bit like Crimea was. Not heard much complaint from Crimea since that happened. Most of those countries pee in the same pot.
There will be a lot of huffing and puffing here but thanks to years of woke environmentalism, anti fracking etc, most of Europe is at the mercy of Russian gas so let’s just suck it up and move on. Do we really need to feel responsible for the security of every country in the world. The last president they elected was a comedian or something. They have had years to sort things out since Glastnost but the level of corruption at the top seems no less.
Starting a world war over local struggles would be madness. There would be no winners.
Poland would be a watershed but the rest are all Slavic brothers. Leave ‘em to it.

Genuine question. What preparations would you suggest ?

Well, it'll take them a while to trample over France, Germany, Poland and Ukraine to reach the channel so we'll have some breathing time to get uniforms and weapons cleaned and ready and checked to HSE standards. Farms will have to prepare for more manure management as we'll be shxxxing ourselves more so we may have to apply for derogation of some environmental requirements. The Slavic tide can be slowed down by planting lines of bottles of vodkaand loudspeakers blaring nostalgic old songs about my Russian Mamma etc to make them lie down and weep. Just have to prepare for the worst.

Noam Chomsky is a pretty astute old boy and he's suggested for a while that this could be a fairly major disruption
you don't need to be any sort of expert to see things look seriously bad out there. technically we are liable to go to Ukraine aid thanks to the agreement where they gave up their nuclear Weapons in return for promises of protection from the west.
Trouble is where will Putin turn next?
we are in just the same situation we were in there late 1930's a dictator is making demands to keep the populace happy. We give him first the one piece, then another until we realise there is no limit to his greed.
Dictators always have this same issue keeping the populace happy is never easy and today with modern communications far harder. The Roman emperors just had to give bread and circuses. today it is territorial expansion the waving of the flag to ensure they can have an excuse to suppress the opposition.

All depends how far West he comes. Much of Eastern Ukraine will have Soviet sympathies, so might just be a case of walking in and bringing the boundary fence with him (especially if NATO/Biden aren't prepared to display a show of force).

If he just wants a 50 mile strip along the border it ill all happen in the blink of an eye and everyone will sigh and shrug it off.

If he does a Blitzkreig style push all the way to the EU border, things may get a bit more lively.

So your still comparing Vlad to Hitler I see, and conveniently avoiding all the shenanighans and miss truths by the usual suspects (NATO, US Biden Admin, UN and various Bolshevik sympathising Oligarchs with an axe to grind) that have gone out of their way to cause Putin to react! Sure Mr Putin has a reputation, but he is no worse than the power hungry slime balls that wish to remove him. Let me tell you, Mr Putin and his adversaries (if thats what they are, it could all be a convenient distraction from other pressing issues) have got much larger concerns on theyre plates than each other. 2022 is going to be a year like none other!

Oi you! I have a bone to pick with you young man. Back some months ago you promised me the Devil himself would visit from Belgium to wreak havoc. I was quite looking forward to seeing what happened. So where is he. Lost his dingy or Covid Passport. Still isolating somewhere. About time you delivered on your promises of Armageddon. Have a good xmas and look forward to more tosh in the New Year. Such fun. Keeps me out of the houses of ill repute.

There used to be a chap walked up and down the Main Street in my home town with a sandwich board displaying signs such as “ prepare to meet thy doom” and “ the end is nigh”. Scared the willies out of me as a youngster but as it was sixty years ago and I’m still waiting I’m prepared to take the doom mongers with a pinch of salt.
