Price of Concrete.

That just drives me nuts, hard enough paying for load, nevermind paying for fresh air, these charges for unused space in mixer lorry winds me up, and then the charge for using a belt lorry, feck I want to scream, 🤬 feck if I started charging for using one spanner in the packet and then put charge on for having the rest there but not using them, there wouldn't be many coming to get work done 🙈🤬🤬
Don't be silly.
Its a totally understandable way of charging to cover transport and time for little jobs. Otherwise they would be facing the equivalent of driving 20 miles with a tractor and baler for a crappy 2 acre pony paddock, rowed up lumpy with a Haybob, and still charging the same rate per bale as your 60 acre job a short drive away.

The two things are totally different, that's like asking a man to come and clip 5 sheep 20 miles away, he wouldn't do it, who in there right mind would head 20 miles to do 2 acres, the value of cutting 2 acres and clipping 5 sheep, is alot different that 4.5 metres of concrete, 🤷

It’s the opportunity cost of their time.

Assuming you are a mechanic, you wouldn’t travel 20 miles to change the spark plug in a lawn mower and charge £1 for the spark plug and 10 minutes labour

You pay extra for all part loads you pay more for something if its not on a articulated lorry .

Got quoted 145 a cubic metre on Friday for 24 metres RC35 with fibre, delivery sometime in July. Too dear and no firm date. Useless. Two large bridge construction jobs going on nearby to plant. Was not expecting it to be that dear.

I think that’s our problem, there’s a lot going on around here. One warehouse last year Hanson were pouring for a week.

Interesting to see people talking about such strong mixes and reinforced too. We home mix at 330 to 350 kg per cube (because its a form of insurance against our bad mixes and we use home dug ballast). If I was buying in standard C30 would be the norm for agricultural use here.
