Price of pet lambs

Somebody I know has asked if I would sell the spare triplet lambs once born, they will attempt a twin on or bottle rear. How much is a pet lamb worth ? Used to always be a tenner or something but given the value in sheep nowadays possibly more ? I don’t know.

Are they going to be January born, or April? Obviously worth a lot more if they will sell in May than if they won't go until November.

Do you have any easy method of rearing them yourself, and can you be arsed to do so? Personally, being set up to rear them, I certainly wouldn't let even my April born lambs go for under £20 (unless it was to do a friend/neighbour a favour of course). If I had to pee about with bottles though, I'd likely give them away.

Yeah sorry I’m lambing late feb into March , texel. X lambs out of scotch mules . I do have means of feeding them (wife and kids ) but less hassles the Better really, I wouldn’t be bothered about the odd lamb but this guy might end up with about 30

We lamb late March through April. Cades are £10 each no picking. If someone specifically wants ewe lambs and they aren’t a good friend it’s £20. When we get too the ewe lambs and want rid of twin lambs, that’s when the creative deals appear! 😉

Week old lambs currently making £40/45 head, did see a black one the other week make £50.

March/ April they can be anything from £3 to £30 but i would say £20 would not be a bad average at that time of year.

£25 I would say end of feb. If you can get that you are doing ok imo. Not enough at a tenner end of feb this year. People will think they can make their fortunes atm

They think that every year… yet not many come back for a second go. 4/5 years ago a fella came and took 12 @ £10 each. 5 days later came back for another 8. When asked how the others were doing, “oh we lost 8 in 4 days” 😳😱 they were good lambs when he took them. After careful questioning I found out he had put them in the Croft by the house, no shelter, a bottle of milk morning and night. Now there has been some sharp frosts overnight. Poor little buggers froze too death. I assumed as he had a holding number and had kept sheep before (he claimed) that he had half an idea what he was doing. Needless too say instead of 8 more lambs he got a very severe bollocking and told too get out now. (With a bit more emphasis).
The next year he’s on FaceAche telling everyone that cade lambs are a waste of time and money.
Sometimes people really boil my pee.

It’s a few years ago now, we had 18 twin Hogg lambs nocking about, so Grandad and I loaded them up, took them too a very good friends over the hill who always had a pen full of cades. Grandad went in for a brew, you can guess what I did. Clipped the movement licence onto his blackboard in the shed and said nowt. He rang up the next morning, called us a pair of twits with an A and left it at that! 😂😂
