Price of standing maize

Million dollar question really as very much dependant on how much forage has been made and location to potential customers.
I've never grown a crop without fixing a price first as I've seen crops virtually given away when no one wanted it. As low as £250 acre up to £600.
@Wilberforce grows and clamps maizeto sell out in winter I believe .

Round here first cut time you'd of got a panic buy of £900/acre as grass crops were that shocking .... 3rd and 4th cuts have been 10T plus and clamps are very full now so prices will have dropped to £3-400

Gosh, I'd put the whole farm to maize if I could get £900 acre. Whereabouts are you to get that sort of money

It was just a theoretical figure haha most i actually know of paid was £750 and now he doesn't want it because he's nowhere to clamp it....a lot of 1st cuts struggled to get over 5T acre and there was some panicking going on! Then seconds were 7-8T and 3rd-4ths 10T +

Am equally happy to sell off the field as well. As mentioned above prices for standing maize last couple of years have been dire. Sold to AD plants out the clamp for the last two years whilst the dariy job tries to sort itself out?
Wheat should easily gross £550/600 this year so standing maize should be £520 plus. Empathises on the should be, doubt you'd get that tho.
Will be clamping ours again this year, unless someone fancy's making me an offer!

I see there's 43 acres for sale on preloved, near Whitchurch.
How are you getting on with your wheat?

Finished last Monday. Only had two days to do when the weather broke pity I had to wait three weeks to get them! Back on subject dull and dank weather all mouth causing maize to stand still and steadied up ripening?

Yes, it's not ripening much is it. Thought it'd be early, but looks like mid October at least now.
