Price per acre for grazing

Cutting/grazing locally for 1st April to 1st aug seems to be £135+ dependant on winter growth.

I wish I wasn’t but land rarely comes up for long term rent here. I could really do with a nice 150acre ring fence farm with nice buildings to rent instead of running round roads for 20acres here and 20acres there.

There's lots of factors, not always the case that the highest price gets it

Location is the thing a lot of hungry dairy farmers and it starts with a £200 + landlord keeps sub.And I am a lot North off you
I know what your saying but on this occasion I’m very confident it was highest bidder gets it

£90 if its tidy and cutable (no fences)
£110 if I can manage the sheep over the winter
owner claims the subs
edit I’ve just rendered significantly less too on a block due to uncertain times. We will see if it was enough.

Cut/graze £130.
Full on dairy stuff, I have heard figures over £200. Not sure if that's pub talk though.
Been out of that game a while now, the above is why.

anything more and it needs to either be literally joining onto my home farm or the owner needs to be reseeding every 4 years and liming it.
My job for next week is to work out if the rough grazing is even viable for the dairy heifers compared to buying in hay and housing them.

Many years of spring calving keeping all rearing and weaned calves in until the following year( after 1st cut) at home compared with rough grazing bought in . Some advantages to equate here are listed
No time or expense on transport....Little or no worming cost....Can feed good barley straw better tha
n hay imo…..No danger of increased disease from infected grazing.....or escape risk lowered..the ability to handle for routine testing......and finaly they grow well . Would not consider rough grazing until bulling age.

Once saw a sheep farmer pay £220 an acre to keep a dairy farmer off a block he’d had taken for years just up the road from here...

We graze our (organic) heifers on a next door organic arable farm, on their fertility building leys. Fence it and provide water troughs etc, and it works out at about £25 / acre, but we are doing each other a favour, the ground that we graze produces better crops.

Around here I very much doubt any land will be going for the sort of rates discussed here.
