Prices for machinery from diffrent dealers with out of area dealers refusing to quote

We are looking at replacing a tractor we have looked at lots of brands and want prices on two different brands sold buy the same dealer.
When we have asked for prices they have just priced one machine and said its far better value than the other and havent quoted.
Iv now asked for prices from dealers with the exact spec machine sat in their yard other end of the country they are refusing to quote only saying they could sell it to our local dealer for us to buy from. I call it all price fixing!
Keeping reading there is now money in selling machinery it in the service back up which would go to local dealer so really other than annoying a customer they wont achieve anything!

I would have changed colour to teach them a lesson. Did it with Massey a good few years ago when they dictated which dealer we had to deal with. Were an all Massey farm at the time too. They did not like it!

I would have changed brand to on principal, or imported the new tractor from the continent or somewhere, are there any doing it nowadays? Any price advantage? Guy? On here use to do it.

It IS price fixing

do you have evidence of that refusal to supply a quote against another dealer? if so as suggested report it to the Competition commission - there is MASSIVE fines for this and a REWARD for those reporting such behavior


You will need some proof however such as an email, letter. answer phone message etc

2 brands same dealer. AGCO as very few these days can sell 2 from different Franchises

a very high quote as would be more hassle than worth.

you need to catch a bit of evidence this is happening so get an email etc

or I can't believe a disgruntled dealership of ex salesman cant prove it's going on and has some evidence?

Not many businesses will turn away a customer ....................... unless being "told" to do so
