Before any of the illustrious Spreaders of fine Lime Products start, I am not wanting to spread the stuff!! :)

I am out of anything in the shed, now and am looking at what can go down the pipe with for countering some of the acidity issues when DD seed into killed off grassy seedbeds. I have a few ac to do this Spring, and more next Autumn

What is the best priced suitable product now...? I was a little gobsmacked at the last 3-4 bags 600kg I bought from BCW, at that price, I anticipated gold dust mixed in....

If it needs lime why not spread by contractor before drilling or spray off well before drilling or spray after drilling as them are all ways around the problem .
Also in Dry times its not so much of an issue as I understand it .

At the dose rate of 500kg/ha needed to counter the acids it works out at £24.28/acre, cheaper than redrilling and even if it isn’t necessary it’s hardly wasted IMO.

Can you put it down the spout with seed
We have put calcifert down the spout with seed on many occasions with our duncan drill - suggested by our NZ contributors. I think we have successfully used around 100kg/ha as its a temporary fix and very localised to the seed to avoid that acid environment that inhibits germination caused by rotting root mass on old swards that have been sprayed out. Works well with brassicas. Its usually where we get a call to drill and theres no time to get bulk lime sorted.

Is that deeper than the seed or in the see slot itself?
