Prince Philip RIP

I think you'll find he developed it as a shooting vehicle and JLR have actually made the rear conversion for the funeral.
The text was from a magazine article. Folks had thought it was a certain vehicle, it is in fact a different vehicle but worked on in consultation with HRH Prince Philip since 2003

This one shown is what they were talking about and it's not the one convreted as shown

Personally, I think it's pretty obscene the super rich swanning around on their yachts. As a rule they tend to avoid tax into the bargain If the royals want one they can afford it themselves. I would prefer to hire a few more nurses or pay them a bit more.

By the way Give is an elected official so unlikely to be on the payroll for ever.

And as far as I know, the Royals do quite well out of the public purse.

if they were to build a new yacht what would it actually cost? it would provide employment the steel used and the labor as long as it's British it would be just recirculating the money and would be a great advert for British craftmanship if you look around at all the tinpot millionaires with yachts I think it's a poor show they no longer have one, the influence they have in the world is immense and would only be enhanced by having one

Providing jobs isn't good enough justification for spending tax payers money. To suggest that the royals can't do their job without a royal yacht is fine but if they (or you for whatever reason) really want one, I don't think it should fall on the taxpayer to pay for it.

Providing jobs with tax payers money is exactly what it should be used for , nothing greater than a working nation it’s got everything going for it.

Actually, I think that you'll find that it's the other way around - the bulk of income from Crown Estates (which is held in trust on behalf of the Royal Family) goes to the exchequer & the royals only retain a percentage. Both HMQ & Prince Charles also voluntarily pay income tax on their private incomes.

Quite, they have all that wealth and income, have special tax arrangements and still get the civil list.

I've got nothing against the royal family, I just wish they would pay tax at the same rates as the rest of us.

Really , is that going to make a difference to you is it ? I doubt it , the difference is already made though isn’t it ? They the Royal family have made the difference made the U.K. that tiny bit better for everyone yet clowns like you have a go at them ? They dedicated their entire lives to the greater food of their country, Philip will do more good for the U.K. after he’s dead than you or me will do in a life time.

Nope, there is no "civil list" these days, the only official income that they receive outside of the Duchy's (Lancaster & Cornwall) is 15% of Crown Estate profit - currently boosted to 25% to fund repairs to Buck House. That 15% is used to pay the royals in respect of the official duties that they perform, plus pay for the operation of the Royal households and palaces. Yes some of them have substantial private incomes, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be recompensed for the work that they do, or not having the opportunity to live a normal life....

This isn't about me though is it? I'm not going to start hurling insults at you to justify or degrade my argument.

My point is that we live in a capitalist democracy where everyone does their bit and pays their way.

I don't like the way the super rich shirk their tax paying responsibilities, or big profitable companies like Amazon

You can’t compare Amazon to the royal family.
