A site near here does rather well charging £380 / plot / year.

It helps that they have a large car park and are located virtually opposite a station that is 40 mins away from London.

If I am thinking of the same place, I think the "free" car parking for commuters is the draw, rather than the plot itself. Is much actually grown there?

You are correct that the majority of their clients will have little interest in gardening, but when you go past it does look like like some of the ground is used.

I assume you have worked out who I am?!

I would worry that a suitable allotment site could be a possible housing site and once it's full of Monty dons you would have a hell of a job removing them if you wanted to get pp for houses!
