Pro series openers

Do the users of the JohnDeere drills think these new openers would help with hairpining due to the narrower seed boot? Looks like they have taken ideas from Needhamag for some of the features.

I wouldn’t have thought so. Surely it’s the disc that bends the straw into a hairpin in the slot, I wouldn’t think the boot following in the shadow has much to do with it.

I think you’d be surprised at the difference the pro series boot makes, from my fairly limited experience so far it seems to hairpin far less than the 90 series boot. With the extra durability, narrower trench ( much easier slot closing) and generally better seed placement it’s quite a useful upgrade.
