Problem with my balls.

I have just gone to change the quick change lift arm balls on my MF35 from cat1 to cat 2 and it has not been quick. Turns out that two quick change cat 2 balls purchsed with the quick change lift arms from the same supplier are not the same size. The difference is about a millimitre or so on the outside diameter. One fits perfectly (56mm od) and one will not fit (57mm od). I've looked at parts online and all the ones I can see that look the same are listed as 57mm od. The cat 1 balls I just removed to put the cat 2 balls in both measure a smidgen over 56mm and fit just fine. Can't take the angle grinder to it or I'll make it uneven and end up with something very much not round. Anyone had this problem? Have tried my local Ernest Does and Ben Burgess in Norfolk who both said they had such a thing and then didn't when I turned up. The supplier who sent me the first lot measured the ones in his store at 56.4mm. I wanted to move a bit of machinery asap so I think I probably have to sit there with sandpaper until it fits. Any faster ideas?

If you only need to move some machines about and are in a hurry then you don’t have to use category balls. Just take the balls out of the arms and use the hollow link arm ends, but make sure you have a suitably long pin or something instead of the standard lynch pins to keep the tractor arms on the implement hitch pins.

Excellent idea, now I can get the drum mower off my big trailer and get those telgraph poles collected. Many thanks.

Tap a snug dowel of wood in as a handle and run it on a bench sander belt , if you got one that is
Brilliant. I can do that. Had a similar idea but couldn't find a drill big enough to take the dowel. I'm sure I can use the motor and belt from a bench grinder I have to get the desired effect. Cheers!
