Problems experienced with the "Longest Combine Unloading Augers"?

The length of the grain tank unloading augers on combines ,to accomodate CTF systems staggers me. The leverage of those long unloading augers must be huge on the construction of the combine when fully laden with grain when unloading,as well as the stabiltiy of the combine when unloading on sloping /steep banks etc.
It would be very interesting to hear if any of you have had any problems with the above, also your tips on how to avoid problems with the above.

The likes of Claas and NH will test these things to the limit before they go on sale so I very much doubt they will start to bend or anything like that, yes lots of strain especially at the end of the auger when fully out and unloading but it will all be engineered so nothing can break in theory. I think if there was a design flaw it would have been heard about on here as these 9.90/10.90 and 770/780 etc machines have been out for a few years now with header widths of 35ft plus.

I sincerely hope you are correct as lot of downtime and expense after warranty period would not be good.

Surely they will not put up with being folded away with the tube full; like when the trailer is full and the tank isn't?

The wings on an aeroplane flex when it is in flight, if they broke it would be a lot more serious for the passengers. Bridges are designed to flex when under load, even an engine can flex when it is under pressure, that is why timing chains are now being to the rear of the engine. The biggest danger is what the previous poster mentioned, the danger of striking power lines.
They will be designed to flex with in limits.

The other problem is that the longer they get, the more they point skywards and run the risk of fouling power lines. I think that the old Massey system, where the auger was horizontal and mounted at the top of the tank was better
Most combines copied the massey.
Worked well in dry corn, not wet
