Is it possible that as I so often do is over think the problem? As in spending so much extra money trying to be a one man band?

When the solution probably was road the big a and stick a load all on a tractor and low loader and have a man follow you around.
Why even bother doing that, just buy a loader than can get a move on and drive it A-B-C.....

second man on the loader saves a load of cab hopping and hitching trailers up fastening loader down etc. I would think it would up output a bit.

Very true but how many extra tons lime a day does it need spread to cover the extra man wages? Cos apart from a bit of diesel driving loader A-B-C there ain’t a lot more costs?
Dunno, at least 10 years since we had any lime spread. The land doesn't seem to need it.

Loader tractor with Big A on a low loader and stick with one man working 100% of the time will be more efficient and you get to stretch your legs.

Spoken to a farmer last night who emigrated to Tasmania in the 80s he is good friend of our family We go and see him quite often. he was having some lime spread yesterday on the farm ,Two lime spreaders. Arrived carrying 36 tons each ,the spreader was towing a trailer . i’ve got some pictures of Google so you can see but he’s going to get me some pictures when they come back . A contractors they use ,got a JCB fastrac which has a hopper on the front which moves the lime to the back one. He thinks carries about nine tons total. See the picture cannot find One with front tank.

The MAN with the larger diameter tyres on the back interests me. That’s where I will try to head for if I go for a truck.

I’m told the MAN rear axle isn’t the most reliable. I looked at a Merc Agrotruck but my main haulier runs some Merc 8 wheelers with the same engine and gearbox and has had nothing but grief with them.

Clever.....but to think there’s money in farming to pay for this kinda kit..?!

I guess it’s one for the AD boys more than farmers!

Neighbour had a kaweco one without the shifting axle for some 20 years, lovely machine. More expensive than a simple tank obviously but cheaper then a full blown tandem axle, and they have upto 650/65r42 tyred...

Probably been mentioned waaaay back, but if your lime spreader on the BIG A was demountable, and for arguement's sake you had a body for some low ground pressure log carting, would it make the BIG A classed as a tractor?

It needs type approval and a safety cab test to be a tractor.
