god funny you say that heard a story the last tractor you bought has multiple gearsticks? ;)
Yep it has a collection of 3ft long levers sprouting out of the floor.
but as anyone who knows me will testify what I say and what I do is usually completely illogical 😂😂😂

Besides it has clutchless splitter, state of the art in 1984👍

Here we go then. I don’t think I can stand any more texts, calls PMs and posts on here!!

Whilst I mention those, thank you all for your interest, it’s been really great.

Delivered today, a 2015 Mercedes Zetros. The very same one I should have bought two years ago instead of the Xerion.

It’s done 33,000 kms, is 330hp and, crucially, has an Allison auto gearbox. As far as I’m aware it is totally unique in the U.K.

One of the first jobs will be bigger boots. Then working out the hydraulic requirements.

My Bredal body is away for a total power coat job and it will get all new bearings and belts before going back on.

Took her out for a little spin, very nice.

Tell me to pi$$ off if required but would it not have been better to fit the body before having it powder coated? Bracketry, drilling, mods etc before paint? Or is it a timescale thing and wanting to get up and running?

The body is drilled ready to accept bolt on brackets, same as it has always been on the Multistrife and Xerion.

On the tyres, I know it’s a minefield, I was wondering if there was anything in 24 inch, getting a bit more circumference
Would you not be better to stick with the 22.5’s but have a taller tyre? Giving a bit more sidewall? bit more flex then and might lend itself to running CTI at some point?

24 inch is not really suitable I would imagine, widest 24 inch tyre is 540/65r24.
800 wide is pretty much the max, 850 will be alot taller. ( Lowest 800 is the afore mentioned 800/40r22.5 at 122 cm, lowest radial 850 is a 850/50r30.5 which is 165 cm).

Some from few years back not the best of photos of one in Nz working

Because they wouldn’t want to overload it so wouldn’t make the sides of the body high.

The sides of my spreader body will be as high as the cab because the chassis is shorter.

Buying second hand you can’t be too choosy and, as it happens, mine is just the right length for the Bredal spreader body I already had.

The only problem with mine could be that it’s not as stable.

Not as unstable as the Xerion though?

If you want to make it longer , Chassis Engineering at Stoke are the guys to do it.

Now then our kid, just a bit of an out there thought and would mean a bit if mud in wet conditions but what about running dual narrower tyres on the rear like a lorry does. Drove a cat rubber duck 360 years ago that had things between the tyres to stop to much soil getting in there!
