Why don’t you get the bed stretched to improve weight distribution it’s not a big job or that expensive to do, the fabricators at my yard do it to lorries most weeks.
I don’t think it would make that much difference to be honest. A few quick calculations tell it will only shift 300 kgs of weight if it’s perfect, so I’m not sure it’s that important. If I wanted to shift lots of weight it would look daft. Why don’t you get the bed stretched to improve weight distribution it’s not a big job or that expensive to do, the fabricators at my yard do it to lorries most weeks.
Care to share the company? How much dosh to have something like your hopper done. CheersIt’s huge. They get whole artics and tank chassis in there.
and it had a ‘Big Z’ decal on each sideLook better is the cab was yellow too.....
It could earn some money as a council gritter, the only one that would get round!Look better is the cab was yellow too.....
Have used B G Penny many times before , Always ready on time as agreedB G Penny and Co in Coventry. If you want anything done, speak to Malcolm Penny.
£1900 for the body and 50 odd parts to be shot blast, zinc primed and powder coat. It would be a lot less if the steel was new but thick rust and existing powder coat takes a lot of getting off.
They all look very heavy, with small diameter wheels. Most trailed spreaders have big tall wheels like muck spreaders. I don't understand the almost obsession with self propelled machines.Looking forward to this. So, something a bit like this? Can’t see what they’ve done with the exhaust. (Pic from Mercedes website)

Are you encouraging him to make it a three wheeler?!!!They all look very heavy, with small diameter wheels. Most trailed spreaders have big tall wheels like muck spreaders. I don't understand the almost obsession with self propelled machines.
Pete - the big A is virtually unbeatable at spreading the weight - emulate that and you'll not go far wrong.
Needs some baby shark air horns to go with the spot lamps @Cab-over Pete
Lol not particularly, just illustrating that what he's run for years still ticks the boxes for low ground pressureAre you encouraging him to make it a three wheeler?!!!![]()
