Project Zetros

Nice to be out with The Gaffer Of All Spreaders today.

Getting muddy boots but managing to keep going.

Spoke too soon.......

Just managed to flounder out of a wet place. Great big stripe of modginess right across the middle of the field. No surprise, it’s the highest point for quite some way and was crossed by a pipeline years ago. To go round it would mean about 3 acres in the 12 acre field not done.
You can’t really see from the photo but the headland is unploughed, the rest ploughed weeks ago.

Got to admit defeat and return another day. Only a few miles from home.

Thats Warwickshire for you! Barely a field with the same soil type right across it in all the county!

I’m thinking I’ll put mine at around 2.8m for stability.

The Zetros has a 13t rear axle, so capable enough. That aside, have you added any extra leaves in your springs, or are you on air suspension?
Sorry Pete, I missed the alert, no they're just as they came in terms of running gear.

Just a big tube bumper on the front and a heavy skidplate, these have a very poor entry angle and it isn't hard to smack the bumper into the ground on some of the ugly tracks with flogged-out crossings.
(Already pushed a headlight through the bumper trying to cross on an angle 😒 and the price makes you 🤮 )
Even a sharp dip will have them touch down so it's something that you may want to do? You probably don't get as carried away as we do, infact I'd be concerned if you did 😉
8 tonne payload puts them overweight for our sticker system, so I generally make 6½ to 7 tonnes do.
They feel loaded without "I'm shifting a house" at that, with our setup the Actros with a ss bin tares at 9,740kg and the Axor I drive tares at 10,700 (mild steel bin), quite a substantial vehicle on a 40° slope but they climb!
sh!t, do they climb. I take them where the farmer gets off his quad and walks, hence the big rollbar

I have a friend that spreads. If a customer asks him to do a really steep bit of ground he tells them he’ll go anywhere....as long as they ride with him!

Sounds like a capable machine.

Can you get lots of pics up on here?
I can get a few, here's the (necessary) bumper extension

Then my boss came out... "don't take pictures of them fuçked tyres in case you have an accident" so I probably shouldn't show you where it goes @simmy_bull
Use your imagination 😁🙈

Fella down the road used to get the boss's son stuck with him in the combine (NH 8070) got fed up of him so hit the brakes going downhill & the son was spread across the windscreen, never seen him after that...

🤣🤣 looks a nice compact spreading gear. The trouble with the Bredal is that there’s a lot of rear overhang.
They've got the spinners quite high, very little rear overhang though....the front... 🙈 just as well the step's on rubber mounts!

My one is on 22.5s, the other one is on 20s, both are quite different.. the one on the 20s is more like a roller-skate on worked ground but climbs better on grass as the cleats are further apart on the Michelins

alot of the MANs and Volvos run on 24s

some run duals front and rear 😬

And some have some pretty flash gear on the back, too!
