Project Zetros

Already on it.

I’m not going to bother with the bright stickers and the racing bodywork. We’ll have a dig around and see if we have enough yellow parts for a spreader body.

Getting there slowly.

They wouldn't tell me when I phoned to ask about the sale. Seemed keen to keep client confidentiality.

Energy company emergency response equipment.

Timing is everything.

Typical when thousands have been without power for over a week that some accountant decided to chop in a load of low houred little used gear.

Now the Kit is needed what Price would the beancounters put on it if it was them shivering in the dark.

Be ideal for other energy companies that need it after last weeks storms to be able to snap it up for a decent price just in time for the worst of winter though….! 😆🙄

Look at the kind of equipment. Lots of off road vehicles, mobile type stuff and a lot of pumps and hoses. All of it barely used. Fairly serious plant- 4CX and a loading shovel as well.

This isn't the sort of thing an average water company or just any old electricity distributor would have. Ask yourself why someone like Western power distribution would need pumps?

Don't know where western power distribution are or where they are based but they were round here last week helping out. Along with that list they would probably also need lots of low loader/transport vehicles to get all that off road gear to site.

It belongs to EDF Nuclear Generation Ltd, formerly British Energy. They run the UK's nuclear power stations. They bought it as part of their response to the tsunami that inundated Fukushima Daiichi.

The idea is that it enables a flexible response to 'beyond design basis' events. That is to say, things that something was never designed to cope with.

I'd imagine that following the permanent shutdown of a number of their reactors recently, they'll not be needing all of it any more.

So yeh, certainly intended to help with the response to adverse events, but not necessarily with distribution.
