Pronar wrapper

Hi all

New here and was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with Pronar wrappers. I’m stuck between a Pronar ( which I’ve been told is a McHale copy) or a vicon wrapper which are the same price. I know a lot of people swear by McHale but they’re half as much again and second hand ones are as scarce as hen’s teeth I’m only looking at doing 300 to 400 bales a year. Thanks in advance

I have a Pronar rear discharge muckspreader, and very pleased with it.
It was the same price to buy new compared to a re-con K2 or Bunnings

I know they are expensive but compared to anything else,McHale wrappers just work with no hassle.For just a few hundred bales maybe try something else but personally I wouldn’t.

I drove a 245 model for a day,nothing wrong with build quality from what you could see. Yes it looked like a mchale but it definitely didn’t wrap like a mchale.
my advice buy a used mchale/Tanco/KV etc for the amount your doing.

Conor would be a decent wrapper, but still not a McHale

That's the trouble it might be only a few hundred bales but they're just as important to him as a man who makes 1000

The vicon wrapper should be just fine, depending on age it could well be a rebadged kverneland which is a very good wrapper.

Thanks for all the replies. I’ve got a bit to think about. I didn’t think about the quality of the wrap so much I was thinking more about build quality, if it’s user friendly and reliability. Sharpy the vicon is a new one bw2400m.

Try pricing a Connor ( mchale copy with Rds control box) had our a few years and it’s been spot on

Wrappers don't really wear out or deteriorate.
Decent used one would be perfectly adequate

I had a Parmiter wrapper here, was abit slow compared to more modern wrappers but it was stable and built well. Wrapped about 1000 a year with it. For an older/cheaper machine it was fine.

That is also available as a kvernland/accord machine, it will be a good wrapper, but as above I would be buying a second hand wrapper for your numbers.

The old plastic cog driven ones yes. They were crap. Most are a heavier duty gear driven thing for the last 20+ years

What did the mchale 991 copy? In my opinion there was no trailed conventional wrapper as good as a mchale 991

It was copied from the old kvernland silawrap back in the day, although I agree that Mchale generally improve on the design they plagiarise. Only really the fusion that was there own design, HS2000 copied the T8, straw chopper followed Lucas, balers followed lely and plenty of court cases followed.

The 991 was a game changer when it came out,metal gears and rollers on the pre stretch unit when most of the others were plastic.Reliable hydraulic cut and tie for the wrap,and very heavily built.Since then the Fusion has been arguably their only good idea,nearly everything else has been a copy of something else.
