Interesting, good location transport wise I suppose, I'd be surprised if they can build as tall given its proximity to RAF Linton.

I'm fairly sure that all the flight training is moving to Wales sometime soon and Linton will close.
Despite the rumours there has been no final decision made yet. There will be something at Linton for a while yet. There is talk of the Memorial Flight and possibly the Reds. Unless Aldwark Bridge is strengthened we won't be carting beet in there.

There is proposal for a new sugar beet factory in North Yorkshire between Harrogate and York.
The proposal has not been put forward by British Sugar but by a company called Al Khaleej from Dubai.

A bit of competition for British Sugar at last!

I thought there was a law that only British sugar could produce sugar in this country or something? Vaguely remember them saying something about it when I was at college at York. When the sugar beet factory was still open!!

The bury factory in Suffolk processes about 11000 tonnes per day.Wissington ( British Sugars biggest factory is I think about 18000 tonnes. So 24-36 thousand per day would mean a huge factory.
Would it mean an existing factory could close?

Indeed. Road infrastructure would probably need upgrading.
Anyway, I'm sure we keep getting told to eat less sugar. This factory would mean a 50% increase in sugar production capacity in England
