Was wondering what these are like. I've a 2.8 ton volvo and thinking I might manage to run one of these postknockers on it. Any one got one? I see there are different weight options and rock spike available.

Have one here and used it on a 3ton Shaeff (now Terex).
I found it a bit heavy especially when the dipper is extended.
Made a bracket to suit our JCB 520-50 Telehandler and mostly use on it now.
Far steadier and can reach further over ditches etc.
Can also use it back of tractor when ground is too soft for telehandler.

Thanks. Do you know what size weight you had fitted? Can it handle strainers or is it really just for fence posts?

180kg weight.It does all I need ok including strainers up to 9”.Probably not for contracting or rocky ground.I definitely would not want to be without it.

Thanks very much. I've bought a breaker for the digger to so the fencing I'm doing on rocky ground I can dig the holes by hand.

I’ve got one with a 200kg weight. Run it on a 4.5t machine with ease but I would think that’d be a bit heavy for yours. Rock spike would be wise if your on stoney ground. It can be a faff to keep putting it on and off but definitely makes the difference if your smacking in strainers. All in all a great bit of kit though when the other option is a sledge hammer!

Thanks. I've bought a breaker and I think the steel on it looks about 18" so thought I could maybe pilot the post holes on stoney ground then switch to the knocker. My only other option is a tractor knocker but I don't know what they cost. I'm hoping to do my own fencing plus some small bits of contracting for small holders etc. There's literally no competition locally and I'm forever asked if I do fencing. Not something I want to do every day though.

You’ll probably be surprised by what it’ll knock in without a pilot hole. Sometimes you can watch a post just inching down but it gets there in the end! Like any machine you’ll get used to it’s capabilities soon enough. It’s always helpful if you’ve got someone half sensible with you to tell you if the posts straight as it can be deceiving from the digger cab (you might not be as boss eyed as me though )!

We bought one a few years ago to fence around a hill farm we own. It was worth it's weight in gold on that job for the strainers. 200kg weight. 6 ton jcb.

Did you add the stand on the offside of the knocker yourself? I haven’t got one and it could do with something for when you drop it off.

And..do you not control the hydraulics from the cab? (Just looks that way on my phone)

It was on there already. My son has made an attachment for it to stand upright when it's not being used. I don't have a pic of that but it's easier to detach than the manufacturer's stand pictured below.
