Protected Urea (Alzon) - any good?

Mole valley have probably bought a boat load and trying to push it. I usually buy straight AN for grassland (silage), apparently it works out per unit of nitrogen cheaper and the uptake is more progressive with less leaching. Is this all bull crap or should I buy some, usually buy an artic load.

If, as you say, it is cheaper than AN, then yes.

Mmmm here’s the rub when the best prices are available these guys aren’t in the market. Granular Urea is the best value it seems.

If you buy the message that it improves the efficiency of urea it is still priced wrongly. It should be at a small premium to urea rather than a small discount to AN.

Alzon has stopped being made, the new one (its yellow rather than blue) is Alzon neo-N, its only made in one factory and the new one is claimed to have near zero volitisation, - better than AN.
I got some coming in Feb at £220.

Trouble with Urea is that in a cold spring, you put it on and absolutely nothing happens. With AN the crop responds within days. This is no small issue for the grassland boys.

Used Alzon without any problem in previous years. Spread well and even.

Was too expensive this year but would use it again despite they smell of it!
