Proving a need for farm worker to live on site

Interesting about changing flood zone maps.
We are just inside national park but I'm not looking at the argument that I need the house. It's a new permitted development came in Oct 1st for light industrial to residential. So I need to look into if this applies in national parks.
It's not the end of the world as if it's not an option I will refurb and continue to let as industrial units
I don't believe Permitted Development rights are applicable in National Parks

Thanks everyone, I have been busy getting very square eyes from reading and reseaching.
This is all very interesting and has opened my eyes a lot to what can and can’t be achieved with the correct knowledge and determination...

Have you read Field To Farm? I highly recommend it, it has really opened my eyes to the possibilities. One of the key points is that if you have over 15acres then you have PD rights to build a barn and you have the right to live on site while engaged in construction activity... You then apply for your temp PP once you are already on site in a mobile home which gives you the time to build your business up and provide the info required for full PP. The other key point to remember is that local planners are often sh1!s that don't know the law and if they refuse you then going to appeal results in a far more impartial ruling from a non-local which actually follows the law not locals feelings...

Were going to, went legit instead.
The thing is, even two years later (from us looking at it) i don't think it's really been successful for anyone.
Whereas running an actual agricultural business and gaining planning has been done hundreds of times over decades

To be honest I've always taken the F2F as a guidance on how to get legit planning, I've always ignored the other bits. There is a lot of useful advice in there which can help you get proper legal permission.

We just felt that we couldn't get a good business going while chucking money at a barn build. We've thrown everything at actually making the business work (and it has yet to prove itself, i hate to think what state it would be in if we'd built a barn early on)

That's fair enough, I've always been looking at land with no buildings though so would always need at least a small barn/storage shed from day 1. Now we're looking at relocating ( a mere 600 miles) and land can be bought with a house and buildings for less than bare fields cost down here!
