We are told that PTO guards are safety critical equipment. I agree with that.
Why then can’t manufacturers affix a label that will last more than 8 years indicating part number? The plastic bearing has worn out. There is no part number on it. I’ve no idea where to obtain a replacement in a timely or cost efficient manner. It would be a shocking waste of resources to replace the entire guard or shaft.
What other industry other than farming would tolerate such poor maintainability and documentation of critical safety equipment?
Come on manufacturers. Help us out. Safety matters.
If anybody knows where I can get a pair of plastic bearings for Weasler shafts then let me know. Appears to be serie 250 but can’t find that on the net, but there are as ever hundreds of different variations on what should be a very common standard item.

Think you will find other industries doput up with it, and not only that but a complete new guard would be fitted, not repaired at all,

About it wearing out, hmm well they really do last a long time it greased regularly, and the likes of link arms don't foul them

I am sure pto guards last a long time if bench tested. They work in a place where it is just too easy suffer damage, and often too difficult to grease unless the implement is unhitched.
I agree the manufacturers need to help resolve the problems. A standard pto length and geometry would be a good start, to reduce the sheer number of variations.
Our Lely tedder has the greasers in the ends of the yoke not in the middle. Top marks.

And attach the bloody chains to something!!!!
The number of machines I see ruined where the chain has been spinning round whipping the frame is scary.
End up with a tidy machine with a square of paint missing.
Or spun round, hooked in the cables to the round baler and pulled them out. Not that anyone would be daft enough 🤫
