Make off tractor would help.
my new Holland does it because the pto speed selection lever don’t go quite far enough to push the micro switch to tell the dash it’s in 1000.

Yes it’s a new holland t5 120
How did you make that fix to the lever ?
Are you sure it's actually going into 1000 the cables not stretched and your only getting it into 540eco instead
yes it worked at the end of last year now this year it won’t get passed the 640 with the 1k shaft in I haven’t touched or changed anything just doesn’t make much since

Most cnh tractors have speed sensors, so should read true speed, stretched or badly adjusted cable not engaging 1000 would be my 1st thought
Would this be an easy fix to do myself? Or would it be a dealer fix?

Since you have not worked out for yourself what is wrong with it, I think it’s best if you get the dealer to fix it. Not meaning that in any negative sense but if you can’t figure out whether the actual shaft is turning at the 540 ratio or the 1000 ratio, whether the gear lever is shifting the ratio or not, I don’t think you are mechanically minded. Not everyone is and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You have other skills. Use them for your advantage and use other people’s skills also to your advantage when it suits.

If it’s nh, it’s more likely the cable. I forget what speed selection is where but on the TMs to engage one of the gears I select it in the cab then go round the back with a long punch and a hammer and give the selector a bit of assistance. Doesn’t need much, just a couple of taps and it’ll move to position.

Similar issue i am having with t5 105. PTO will not engage, when i do try to engage it cannot get the engine to rev. Hear a clicking noise in the solenoid, have checked it and is functioning. Tried a punch in the shaft and does not help. But the PTo will turn freely when tractor shut off also
