Puma spotlights

Got a puma 210 that i have just changed rear top spots to led. Since doing this i have realised i have 6v going to them as soon as sidelights come on as the leds come on half brightness. Im guessing this was a fault before that i didnt notice with the old spots. Not touched any wires other than the positive and negative going to spots. Numberplate lights come on but goes out if i disconnect the 2 spots (again presume this happened before but didnt notice) spots still come half on with plug disconnected from cab light controller. Any ideas? Numberplate lights dont have any screws how do you get into them. Thanks

Update, apparently the numberplate lights normally go off when spots come on. Have spoken to someone else who had this on a tm and a ts as soon as they switched to led. They fitted a resistor before the spots. Seems they have a common earth and its causing a problem for some reason. No-one else had this? Wondering if i have a bad earth or something as there must be hundreds of tractors upgraded to led.

My tm does this as well, I put an on off switch before the led lamp

Someone else has told me they had to fit a seperate earth to the numberplate lamps to get around it. Trying to get my head round why a common earth would cause an issue or is there something else playing up and most tm's pumas etc dont have the issue.

Any ideas @UTV Products , Lights are from you and too bloody bright even on 6v for the road 🙈🤣

Good morning @jg123,

This is a common problem with CNH tractors.

There’s diodes in the upper worklamp circuit that are used in conjunction with number plate lamps. Idea is that the number plate lamps go out when work lamps are on to prevent glare on the back window during night work.

Run a new earth to your worklights and this will solve the problem. You can earth to a bolt on the cab somewhere nearby.

I wouldn't advise fitting resistors to a light that is continually in use like this as they run quite hot. Different on an indicator for example that's only on for short periods of time.

Any queries give me a call on Monday on 07384730914

Thanks Jack. We have a plan now and not searching for a problem on the tractor that maybe doesnt exist.

Would you do a long light to go across the front of the cab or bonnet for potato harvesting? The topper blocks the headlights and the spots don't throw the light far enough
Good afternoon,

We have a lot of customers fitting our UTV332 to front tanks, toppers and mowers for this very reason.

They give you the opportunity to have fully road legal headlights for road use.

Would that suit for you?

Alternatively we can offer a lightbar to suit or some of our high output LED worklights.

If you want to give me a call to discuss you can on:
