I need to replace a leaking oil pressure sender on a Ford 4610 (81/2) era. However in the way is the resavoir type hydraulic steering pump. any recommendations on removal? I last did a similar on on a Ford 6600 which had an internal filter.
Would just disconnecting the pipes and removing the oil reservoir be enough to let you get at the pressure switch? Shouldn't need to take the pump off as well.
Engine oil pressure switch? Have never noticed it to be that tight but you can undo the bolt on the end of the steering pump and the canister will come off, if still not enough room then the filter can also be removed.
Just whip the drum off then and when you refit make sure the o-ring is in place and not twisted and both parts nice and clean. Fill with ATF oil and then top up with engine running
i did have to remove the reservoir in the end. However the filter and two plates fell out to. I can’t see on my manual where the two plates go as they don’t seem to fit over the filter ?
Fair enough. Although I’ve never needed to remove it. Sounds like the filter has broken up. Plates should sandwich paper element. Otherwise can you post a picture please.
